NCLR is thrilled to unveil the new “Latinos and Philanthropy” track at the 2009 NCLR Annual Conference, which will take place July 25–28 at McCormick Place West. In addition to five workshops along this track, there will also be a town hall titled “A New Era of Philanthropy: A Look at the Current Economic Climate and Its Impact on Latino Organizations.”
On Saturday, July 25, panelists will address how nonprofit organizations throughout the country are facing the troubling challenge of meeting a greater demand for their services with fewer resources as America faces its worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. This town hall will bring together some of the nation’s most respected Latino philanthropists to examine the current economic climate, provide timely information regarding what philanthropic organizations are doing or can do to be of assistance, and discuss solutions for how our community can increase its access to financial support. This exciting and relevant conversation will be moderated by Dr. Douglas X. Patiño and will include leaders from private, corporate, and community foundations including Luz Vega-Marquis, President and CEO of the Marguerite Casey Foundation, and Ramón Murguía, a Trustee of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.
Make sure to register today for your local discounted rate of only $335, which is a limited-time offer and only available for residents of Illinois! Simply enter Chicago2009 as the promotional code when you register online at www.nclr.org/conference.
We look forward to seeing you this July!
