Sen. Menendez wants more Eva Longoria

For Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., there's one Hollywood type that embodies the Hispanic outreach he's looking for.

"Eva Longoria. Eva, Eva. Eva really has used ... her stardom in a very positive way for the community ... on a whole host of critical issues. And she has not been afraid to do that," Menendez told Yeas & Nays at the Ibarra Strategy Group debut event Tuesday.
Longoria's most recent appearance on Capitol Hill was in November 2009, lobbying with the National Museum of the American Latin

About 35 babies were born that year for every 1,000 teen females, nearly two fewer babies than the 2007 rate.
“California is bucking a national trend in which we see the teen birth rate across the country climb, while California’s rate has fallen,” said department spokesman Ken August.

The U.S. teen birth rate for 2007 was 42.5 per 1,000, up from 40.5 in 20

The reason: Obama has yet to do anything on a comprehensive overhaul of immigration laws, as he promised to do when he ran for president.

"I think he's in danger of breaking the spirit of solidarity and hope," Cedillo said. "More than a broken promise, it's the danger of breaking people's sense of hope in the Latino

Close to 60 percent of Latino students now choose to attend four-year colleges more than 50 miles away from home. That's an increase of nearly 15 percent since the mid 1970s.

UCLA researchers say the increase is linked to the growth of middle class Latino families. They also say more college and universities outside of California are looking to divers

One Down; Last Man Standing

Remember Joe Kapp? The famous Latino quarterback long before the NFL was courting Latino viewers? With the Jets and Mark Sanchez out of the picture, Latinos won't have much to root for come Super Bowl Sunday.

Colts wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez is sidelined with a season-long injury, and Jonathan Casillas, a Saints bench player, represents the only Latino who can conceivably clock in some game time in the Latin capitol of America. And unless the game is a blowout, there's little chance he'll st
